Manchester City could be without Shaun Wright-Phillips when they welcome Middlesbrough in their Premier League match on Saturday.
The 27-year old was handed a three match ban by the FA for kicking out at Rory Delap in City’s 1-0 defeat to Stoke City last weekend. The Citizens could appeal against the decision but with referee Martin Atkinson confirming that he would have sent off Wright-Phillips as well had he seen the retaliation, City are certain to lose if they decide to appeal against the decision.
Middlesbrough will be looking to complete a double over City for the first time in five years as they look to repeat their 2-0 win from early this season. Afonso Alves and Gary O’Neil were on target for Boro on that day but Gareth Southgate’s side have since then hit a rough patch and have failed to win even once in their last 12 matches.
