Portsmouth will be hoping to appoint a new manager before their Premier League match against Manchester City kicks off on Saturday.
Pompey sacked Tony Adams after a poor run of nine games without a win and the board are looking at an established name who will pull them away from the relegation zone and build for a successful future. Former Manchester City manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has emerged as the favorite to replace Adams should he get the sack after Mexico lost a crucial World Cup qualifier against USA in the midweek.
Manchester City will be looking to repeat their excellent performance from the last time when the two teams met back in September. The Citizens put a brilliant attacking display to thrash Portsmouth 6-0 with Jo, Richard Dunne, Robinho, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Ched Evans and Gelson Fernandes hitting the back of the next.
City will be without Wright-Phillips who was suspended for three matches by the FA for retaliating against Rory Delap during City’s 1-0 defeat to Stoke.
