Defending Carling Cup champions Tottenham Hotspur are one step away from making it to the finals for the second successive time when they play Burnley in the semi-final on Tuesday.
The Spurs progressed to this stage after overcoming Watford 2-1 in
the quarterfinals. Tamas Priskin gave the Championship side the lead,
but Roman Pavlyuchenko scored from a penalty that resulted after Ross
Jenkins had fouled Jermaine Jenas. The win for Spurs was sealed after
Darren Bent slotted in a late goal.
Burnley beat Arsenal 2-0 thanks to a brace from Kevin McDonald.
Burnley’s famous win followed their fourth round upset of Chelsea in a
penalty shoot out.
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp will relish the thought of bringing
silverware to the White Hart Lane in his first season as manager of the
club.
