Blackburn manager Sam Allardyce takes on his former club Newcastle in the Premier League for the first time since he was dumped by the Magpies last year.
Blackburn have won just two games at home and their third win could
see them climb out of the relegation zone this week. The club have had
two approaches from Manchester City for Paraguayan striker Roque Santa
Cruz, but have rejected them. However all indications are that the
player may leave during January.
Last week’s game against Portsmouth was called off due to a frozen pitch.
Newcastle have become specialists at drawing games after they came
from behind to hold West Ham to a 2-2 draw. Andy Carroll scored for the
Magpies late on after Michael Owen’s goal was neutralized by Craig
Bellamy and Carlton Cole had put the Hammers ahead.
Newcastle are placed 11th on the league table with 23 points from 21 games.
