Liverpool will be looking to make it two wins in as many games when they take on Newcastle United in their last Premier League match of the calendar year.
A brace from Robbie Keane and another goal by Albert Riera helped
Liverpool to a convincing 3-0 victory over Bolton Wanderers on Boxing
Day to lift them back to the top of the league table after Chelsea had
snatched the pole position following their early win.
Newcastle on the other hand go into their match on Sunday following
a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Wigan Athletic. The Latics had taken a
2-0 lead thanks to goals from Ryan Taylor and Amr Zaki and though
Newcastle snatched one back late in the game through Danny Guthrie they
were unable to avoid a defeat.
Jose Enrique, Mark Viduka and Habib Beye will be missing the action
on the weekend after injuring themselves against Wigan while Sebastien
Bassong will serve out a one match ban.
